New York’s University Club epitomizes old-guard elegance. With its herringbone oak floors, dark paneled walls, and vaulted ceilings, the club’s 19th-century library is a neoclassic jewel in a city of perpetual reinvention. We designed Phoenicia to be at home among the library’s fireplaces, philosophers’ busts, and leather chairs. Phoenicia’s handsome design features raised panel details and pedestal-style bases for the candlesticks. Finely pleated fabric shades add a softer touch, while reinforcing the piece’s cubical motif.
