LED Drum Pendants

LED drum pendants are energy-efficient fixtures that hang from a single cord or rod and feature a decorative drum-shaped shade. As one of the most versatile styles of pendant lights, they combine the benefits of LED lighting with shades in a wide range of styles.

Fabric or Metal Drum: How Does Each One Light a Room?

The drum shade of these pendants can be made from a variety of materials, from classic fabric finishes, to modern metal versions. Fabric drums cast a more diffused, ambient glow, while metal finishes refract and reflect light for a bolder and brighter look.

What Size Drum Pendant Suits My Table or Room?

To select the correct size of drum pendant, take into consideration where it’s being hung. When centered over a table, ensure the drum shade is one-half to two-thirds of the width of the table for a balanced look.

When hung in the center of a room, add the room’s dimensions in feet to determine the diameter of the drum in inches.

How High Should a Drum Pendant Hang?

When hanging your pendant, you always want to leave enough room for clearance underneath. When installing a drum pendant above a counter or table, allow for 30-36 inches of clearance below.

When hung in the middle of a room, give 7 feet of clearance underneath to avoid restricting movement.

Does a Drum Pendant Need a Bottom Diffuser to Avoid Glare?

A bottom diffuser is a semi-sheer panel installed at the bottom of a drum pendant to reduce glare and hide the lightbulb.

When a drum pendant is installed above areas like dining tables or kitchen islands where you may be looking upwards or the surface is reflective, a diffuser panel is sometimes recommended. When hung well above eye level in the center of a room, it may be unnecessary.
